A: Small altars can be one piece. However, most large marble church altars are carved in sections (Top Slab/Mensa, Columns, and Base) to make shipping and carrying into the church building possible. We engineer them to fit together seamlessly.
Q3: What is the difference between an Ambo and a Pulpit?
A: Liturgically, the Ambo is the place where the Scriptures are read. The Pulpit was traditionally used for preaching. Today, we design marble ambos that are dignified and match the altar, often serving both functions.
Q5: Is the marble altar top (Mensa) a single solid piece?
A: Yes. According to liturgical norms, the mensa (top of the altar) should be a single, unbroken slab of natural stone. We ensure we select a high-quality block without cracks for this sacred purpose.
Q7: Can you make a matching Tabernacle Stand?
A: Yes. We often create a “Throne” or a pedestal behind the altar to hold the Tabernacle, ensuring it matches the style and stone color of the main altar.
Q2: Can you include a space for Relics (Sepulchrum) in the altar?
A: Yes. Following Catholic tradition, we can carve a sepulchrum (cavity) into the mensa (top slab) or the base of the altar to house the relics of Saints. Please specify the dimensions of your reliquary box.

A: Yes. A Last Supper relief carving is a classic choice for the altar frontal. We can also carve the Lamb of God (Agnus Dei), the Chi-Rho, or the Alpha and Omega symbols with high detail.

A: They are very heavy. A standard altar can weigh between 500kg to 1500kg. You must ensure your sanctuary floor is reinforced to support the weight of a solid stone altar.
